Floor Coverings International – serving Flagstaff, Prescott, Sedona, and the surrounding area – is your local provider of solid hardwood flooring. Solid wood is different than engineered hardwood because it is crafted from a single piece of timber. This provides the classic beauty and durability that wood is known for. Engineered hardwood is made up of different layers of wood that can give the wood plank stability.

Our flooring team has experience with all kinds of flooring, including solid wood floors. We are prepared to help you from start to finish during the product selection, design, and installation of your new floors. At Floor Coverings International customer satisfaction is our top priority – we do our best to complete your project on-time, on-budget, and to your specifications.

Pros & Cons

Solid wood is found throughout homes in the Sedona area for a few reasons including the ease of maintenance, durability, and style options. Wood is extremely easy to clean and maintain – simply sweep every few days to remove dirt and debris. Hardwood can take quite a beating and is perfect in high-traffic areas such as hallways or living rooms. If scuffs and scrapes do appear on your floors, it can be re-sanded and re-finished many times without losing its quality.

You should be aware that solid hardwood naturally expands and contracts. Installers will take this into account and leave a small gap between your floors and the wall. This gaps is often covered by a baseboard. This shift in size is usually due to temperature and humidity changes. Wood doesn’t do well with moisture and should be avoided in basements or bathrooms. Choose an engineered floor if you want a wood option installed below-ground.
